Men's Ice Hockey Overpowers Daniel Webster, 7-0

NASHUA, N.H.--Junior Jake Donahue (Groveland, Mass.) scored twice and classmate Rob Devaney (Reading, Mass.) added a goal and two assists as visiting Babson College defeated Daniel Webster College, 7-0, on Friday night at Conway Rink.

Babson, which is unbeaten in its last four games, is now 11-7-2 overall and 8-4-1 in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC), while Daniel Webster falls to 1-17-1 on the year.

First-year Connor Dahlman (Stamford, Conn.) scored the first goal of his career and contributed one assist, while sophomore Matt Brazel (Hingham, Mass.) contributed two assists for the Beavers. Senior Bill Seligman (Toronto, Ontario), junior Bobby Hall (Westwood, Mass.) and sophomore Tommy Munichiello (Weymouth, Mass.) all scored once in the win.

Sophomore goaltender Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla) stopped nine shots over the first two periods and senior Gene Lane (Plymouth, Mass.) completed the shutout by turning away all eight shots he faced over the final 20 minutes in his first action of the season for the Green and White.

Munichiello opened the scoring with his team-leading eighth goal of the year at 13:13 of the first period and Donahue followed with his second tally of the year just over three minutes later to make it 2-0. Devaney notched his sixth goal of the season at 3:03 of the second period and Hall followed with another score just 26 seconds later to give the Beavers a 4-0 advantage.

Dahlman scored on the first of four consecutive Babson power plays at 9:07 of the second period and Seligman tacked on another power play tally at the 14:45 mark to give the Green and White a 6-0 lead. Donahue capped the scoring just 1:21 into the third with another power play goal to complete the first two-goal game of his career.

Senior Morgan Hudson (Ottawa, Ontario) turned away 47 shots for the Eagles, who were outshot 54-17 on the night.

The Beavers finished 3-for-7 on the power play, while Daniel Webster went 0-for-3.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson travels to Southern Maine at 4 p.m., while Daniel Webster hosts UMass Boston at 3:05 p.m.

•    The Beavers are now 2-0 all-time against Daniel Webster.
•    Babson has recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time since blanking Castleton on November 14 and Southern Maine on November 20, 2015.
•    The Beavers' seven goals are their most since putting up eight in a victory over Southern Maine on November 20, 2015.
•    Babson matched its season high with three power play goals. The Green and White also scored three times on the power play in a 4-1 win over Castleton on November 12.
