Pompa Earns NEHC Goaltender of the Week Honors

Phelps Named to Weekly Honor Roll after First Two-Goal Game

MARSHFIELD, Mass.—Babson College men's ice hockey junior Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.) was selected as the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday morning.

Pompa turned away 33 of 34 shots for a .971 save percentage while earning his sixth win of the year in Babson's 4-1 victory over Lake Forest on Saturday. He came up with 16 saves in the third period to help the Beavers stay unbeaten at home.

Pompa, who has started 11 of 12 games this winter, has posted a 2.23 goals against average and ranks third in the conference with a .924 save percentage to go along with one shutout.

In addition to Pompa's goaltender of the week award, senior forward Zach Phelps (Manorville, Pa.) was named to the NEHC Honor Roll after producing the first two-goal game of his career in the win over the Foresters.

Babson (7-4-1) returns to action on Friday at 4 p.m. when it faces No. 3/4 Endicott in the opening round of the W.B. Mason Winter Classic at SUNY Plattsburgh.
