Brian McConnell is entering his second season as an assistant coach for the Babson ice hockey program. A four-year player at Boston University from 2001-2005, McConnell has brought to Babson an impressive resume that includes numerous individual and team accomplishments. During his brilliant collegiate career, he helped lead the Terriers to three NCAA Tournament appearances and three Beanpot Championships while earning Hockey East All-Rookie Team honors in 2002, the Brent McInnis Award for the player who best exemplifies the spirit of BU hockey in 2005, and a position as team captain in 2005. In addition, he was selected in the second round (39th pick overall) in the 2002 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames, and he was a member of the 2003 United States World Junior Hockey Team that advanced all the way to the bronze medal game at the World Junior Championships in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Prior to attending BU, McConnell played two years for the U.S. National Team Development Program, serving as assistant captain for the Under-17 Team in 2000 and as captain for the Under-18 Team in 2001. Following his graduation, he participated in the Boston Bruins Camp in 2005, played for the Trenton Titals of the ECHL in 2005-06, and then played for the Fresno Falcons (also of the ECHL) in 2006-07.
McConnell, who also serves as Babson's Intramural
Coordinator, currently resides in Norfolk, Massachusetts.
