Babson's Nichols Plays In Lacrosse World Championships
Current Babson College senior lacrosse defenseman Jake Nichols (Longmeadow, Mass.) recently helped lead the Bermuda Mens Lacrosse world team to a top-eighteen finish in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Games held this past week in Manchester, England. Nichols completed his third tour of duty with Bermuda after representing the teal and orange at both the 2008 Under-19 World Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the 2006 World Championships in London, Ontario. The former of the two events saw Bermuda place second in their division.

Assistant Lacrosse Coach Blumenthal Named Athletics Coordinator
Assistant men's lacrosse coach Josh Blumenthal has been named Babson's new Athletics Coordinator, Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur announced on Thursday. In his first season as an assistant under head coach Brendan Gorman, Blumenthal helped guide the 2010 Beavers' men's lacrosse program to its highest win total in seven years. He also served as a goalie coach for the Babson women's lacrosse team, which won its fourth straight NEWMAC title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season. In his new role, Blumenthal will continue to serve as an assistant coach while also managing numerous administrative duties with the Athletics Department such as coordination of on-campus meals and housing for all 22 varsity teams, oversight of internal department communications, and assistance with special events.

Saucier Named ECAC Men's Lacrosse New England All-Star
Babson College senior mens lacrosse player Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) has been named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England All-Stars Third Team. This marks the first All-Region honor of the goalkeepers four year career. This spring he started all 17 possible games for the Beavers and helped lead Babson to its most successful season in recent years making 175 total saves.

Eight From Men's Lacrosse Earn Pilgrim League Postseason Honors
Eight different Babson mens lacrosse players were honored by the Pilgrim League with postseason honors. Senior goalkeeper Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) was named to the All-Conference First Team while first-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) was named the Pilgrim League Rookie of the Year and was also named to the All-Conference Second Team. Also earning second team honors was junior defenseman Christian Ebert (Boxford, Mass.). Senior Max Artz (Gates Mill, Ohio), junior Nick Dager (Manchester, N.H.), sophomore Cam Caruso (St. Charles, Ill.) and first-years Ryan Lee (Wallingford, Conn.) and Jay Whalen (Westwood, Mass.) were all named to the Pilgrim League All-Academic Team.

Men's Lacrosse Falls to Wheaton, 18-8, in Pilgrim League Semifinal
Making their 10th consecutive appearance in the Pilgrim League Tournament, the number three-seeded Babson College mens lacrosse team fell to host second-seeded Wheaton College on Wednesday afternoon in the 2010 Pilgrim League Championship semifinal round, 18-8. Improving to 8-7 on the season, Wheaton will face the winner of Wednesday nights other semifinal between top seed Springfield College and number-four Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Saturday at the highest remaining seed at 1:00 p.m. The Lyons seek their first league title, while Babson finished its year at 10-7, the most wins since the 2003 season.

Springfield Escapes With 10-7 Comeback Victory Over Men's Lacrosse
The Babson College mens lacrosse team built a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and still led by three at halftime, but visiting Springfield College rallied with three goals in the third and five more in the fourth to claim a thrilling 10-7 comeback win in the final game of the Pilgrim League regular season at MacDowell Field on Saturday evening. With the win, Springfield (10-5 overall, 7-0 Pilgrim League) clinches the top seed in next weeks conference tournament, and will host fourth-seeded MIT in the semifinal round on Wednesday, May 5 at a time to be determined. Meanwhile, Babson (10-6, 5-2) will be seeded third in the Pilgrim League Tourney and will head to Wheaton for a semifinal matchup with the second-seeded Lyons at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Patinkin Spoils Senior Day at Clark as Men's Lax Prevails, 9-6
On a night when Clark took time to honor its nine seniors, it was a Babson College freshman who stole the show as the Beavers claimed a 9-6 win over the host Cougars on Wednesday evening on Granger Field. With the victory, Babson (10-5 overall, 5-1 Pilgrim League) officially secured its 10th consecutive berth in the upcoming Pilgrim League Tournament. In addition, the Beavers reached the double-digit mark in wins for the first time since 2003. First-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) scored all five of his goals in the second half, including three straight in the decisive third period when he single-handedly erased a 4-3 halftime deficit with a three-goal onslaught in less than nine minutes.

Men's Lacrosse To Host Special Fundraiser On Saturday
This Saturday, the Babson College men's lacrosse team will be hosting a special fundraiser as part of their final regular season game against Springfield College at 5 p.m. The event, which is in conjunction with the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Association (IMLCA), will benefit long-time University of Hartford coach and current Bellarmine head coach Jack McGetrick. Coach McGetrick is a legendary men's lacrosse coach who was recently was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Men's Lacrosse Powers Past MIT, 15-9
The Babson College mens lacrosse team defeated visiting MIT, 15-9 on Saturday afternoon in a Pilgrim League contest at MacDowell Field. Nine different Beavers scored in the win including first-year James Schmidt (Shelburne, Vt.) who led all players with four goals and one assist. With the win, Babson improves to 9-5 on the season and 4-1 in the Pilgrim League. MIT falls to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the Pilgrim League. MIT will next host Norwich University in a Pilgrim League contest on Wednesday, April 28th at 4pm. Babson will continue Pilgrim League play when they visit Clark University also on Wednesday for a 7pm game.

Men's Lacrosse Dominates Norwich, 14-3
First-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) scored a game-high five goals, and junior Armand Wilson (Fairfield, Conn.) registered three goals as Babson College defeated Norwich University, 14-3, in a Pilgrim League mens lacrosse game Wednesday afternoon at Howard Field. The Beavers return to action on Saturday when they play host to MIT for a 1pm Pilgrim League contest.

Men's Lacrosse Overwhelms Mass Maritime, 18-3
First-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) scored four goals and assisted three others to lead the host Babson College Beavers to an impressive 18-3 victory over the visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy Bucaneers in a Pilgrim League mens lacrosse contest at MacDowell Field on Saturday afternoon. With their sixth win in their last eight games, the Beavers improved to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Patinkin led all players with seven points, while sophomore Cam Caruso (St. Charles, Ill.) added two goals and one assist for the hosts. Sophomore Paul Grip (Shrewsbury, Mass.), junior Andrew Packer (Hudson, Ohio), and first-year Ben Jette (Old Lyme, Conn.) chipped in with two goals apiece for the Beavers, while juniors Ryan Kucinski (Cohassett, Mass.) and Brad Simpson (Neenah, Wisc.) each netted their first goal of the season in the victory.

Men's Lacrosse Tops Mount Ida, 10-5
The Babson College mens lacrosse team defeated host Mount Ida College 10-5 in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers scored the first seven goals of the game giving the host Mustangs a large deficit to overcome early in the contest. With the loss, Mount Ida falls to 6-4 on the season and Babson improves to 6-5 overall. The Beavers return to action on Saturday when they host Massachusetts Maritime Academy for a 1pm Pilgrim League contest.

Wheaton Tops Men's Lacrosse, 15-9
The Wheaton College men's lacrosse team pulled out to a 10-goal lead midway through the third quarter before fending off Babson College, 15-9 on Saturday during Pilgrim League action in Mirrione Stadium. Seven different Beavers scored on the day, as first-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) netted a pair to go along with an assist, and junior Andrew Packer (Hudson, Ohio) tallied a pair. Senior goalkeeper Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) collected 14 stops.

Men's Lacrosse Opens Pilgrim League Slate With 10-7 Win At Lasell
Babson College scored the first five goals of the game and never looked back as the Beavers held on for a 10-7 victory over host Lasell College in a Pilgrim League men's lacrosse matchup on Saturday afternoon. With its fourth win the last five games, Babson improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Sophomore Paul Grip (Shrewsbury, Mass.) led all players with three goals in the win for the Beavers, while senior Jon Standen (South Hadley, Mass.) added one goal and two assists. First-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) chipped in with one goal and one assist for Babson, while senior captain Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) finished a spectacular game in net with 11 saves and a game-high nine groundballs.

#9 Tufts Too Strong For Men's Lacrosse, 15-4
Nationally-ranked Tufts University scored 12 unanswered goals to break the game open as the visiting Jumbos defeated host Babson College, 15-4, in a non-conference mens lacrosse contest at MacDowell Field on Monday afternoon. With the win, Tufts, second in New England and ninth in the nation, improved to 6-0 on the spring, while Babson suffered its first defeat in four games to fall to 4-4 overall. Senior captain Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) played just under 47 minutes in net for Babson, finishing with 13 saves. Senior Shane Farrell (West Warwick, R.I.), first-year Jamie Schmidt (Shelburne, Vt.), first-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.), and first-year Michael Griffin (Duxbury, Mass.) each scored goals for the Beavers, while juniors Christian Ebert (Boxford, Mass.) and Ryan Kucinski (Cohasset, Mass.) recorded seven and five groundballs, respectively.

Strong Second Half Sends Men's Lacrosse Past Plymouth State, 11-8
The Babson College mens lacrosse team defeated visiting Plymouth State University on Thursday afternoon by a score of 11-8. Babson was led by first-year Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) who finished with two goals and three assists for five point and junior Armand Wilson (Fairfield, Conn.) who tallied three goals and one assist in the win. With the victory the Beavers improve their overall record to 4-3 on the season while the Panthers of Plymouth State drop to 2-3.

Saucier Named Pilgrim League Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Babson College senior goalkeeper Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) has been named the Pilgrim League mens lacrosse Player of the Week. Saucier went 2-0 with a 7.00 goals against average, a .632 save percentage, and 16 ground balls in leading Babson to a pair of victories this week. He made 10 saves and picked up 10 ground balls in a 12-9 win over Salve Regina on Tuesday, and then turned away 14 shots with only five goals allowed to go with six ground balls in a 9-5 win at the University of Scranton on Saturday.

Dominating Defense, Balanced Attack Power Men's Lacrosse To 9-5 Win Over Scranton
Senior captain Mike Saucier made 14 saves in net to highlight a magnificent defensive performance by Babson College on Saturday, as the Beavers recorded a huge 9-5 road win at University of Scranton in a non-conference men's lacrosse matchup. Scranton outshot the Beavers, 48-27, in the contest, but Saucier came up with his best effort of the young season. The veteran goalie turned away three shots in each of the first two quarters and four each in the third and fourth to finish with 14 stops on the day. He was aided by another outstanding effort by the Babson defensive unit, which killed nine of 10 man-up advantages for Scranton and forced 33 turnovers. Junior Christian Ebert continued his outstanding play, picking up a team-high seven groundballs and causing seven turnovers.

Second Half Surge Sends Men's Lacrosse Past Salve Regina, 12-9
Sophomore Cam Caruso (St. Charles, Ill.) came off the bench to score three goals as the Babson mens lacrosse team outscored Salve Regina University 8-3 in the second half and recorded a 12-9 win in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Gaudet Field. Junior Tom Cykana (Minnetonka, Minn.) and first-year James Schmidt (Shelburne, Vt.) each potted three goals for the Beavers, who snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 2-3 on the season. Junior Brendan Rooney (West Newton, Mass.) scored three goals for the Seahawks, who slipped to 2-3.

Eastern Connecticut State Edges Men's Lacrosse, 12-11
First-year junior attack Grant Albertson scored his second goal of the game on a pass from sophomore midfielder Salieu Bolivar with 18.7 seconds left to give the Eastern Connecticut State University (1-1) mens lacrosse team a 12-11 victory over Babson College (1-3) on Wednesday afternoon. First-year Alex Patinkin scored a game-high five goals in defeat for the Beavers, while junior Armand Wilson scored to cap a late 6-2 run that tied the game with just under a minute left.

Men's Lacrosse Drops Hard Fought Battle to Union College, 8-5
The Babson College mens lacrosse team dropped a hard contested matchup to visiting Union College Saturday afternoon, 8-5, in a nonconference game at MacDowell Field. The Beavers outshot Union, 38-26 with 18 total shots on net to Unions 15. With the loss, Babson drops to 1-2 on the season while Union improves to 1-1 with their single loss of the season coming to #15 ranked SUNY Geneseo, 10-5.Babson returns to action Wednesday, March 10th when they visit Eastern Connecticut State University for their first away game of the season at 4:00pm.

Men's Lacrosse Tops Wentworth, 12-4, For First Win Of 2010
The Babson College mens lacrosse team defeated visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology, 12-4, for its first victory of the season and the first career win for Babson first-year head coach Brendan Gorman. Babson was led by junior attacker Armand Wilson, who finished with three goals. With the win, Babson improves to 1-1 on the season while the Leopards start out at 0-1. Along with Wilsons game high three goals, sophomore TJ Mallon finished with two goals and two assists for four points and was followed by senior captain Max Artz and sophomore Thomas Cykana who each chipped in two goals and one assist. Junior defender Christian Ebert picked up 11 groundballs and junior Ryan Kucinski chipped in with seven others. Senior captain Mike Saucier (Nashua, N.H.) played all 60 minutes in net for the Beavers, making eight saves.

Skidmore Too Strong for Men's Lacrosse
The Babson College mens lacrosse team fell to visiting Skidmore College, 16-4, in their opening game of the 2010 season. Nine different Skidmore players scored in the win being led by senior Rob Lutin (Port Washington, N.Y.) and first-year J.P. Sullivan (Floral Park, N.Y.) who each tallied three goals and two assists for five points on the day. With the win, Skidmore starts their season off at 1-0 and Babson is now 0-1. Babson received goals from Wilson, sophomore Scott Schachter (Rumford R.I.), sophomore Paul Grip (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore Thomas Mallon (Manhasset, N.Y.). First-year James Schmidt (Shelbourne, Vt.) added two assists on the day. Junior Christian Ebert (Boxford, Mass.) picked up a game high eight groundballs.

2010 Season Preview: Men's Lacrosse
The Babson College mens lacrosse team will look to begin a new era of success in 2010. Despite losing their top three scorers to graduation, the Beavers return a veteran group and will take the field under the direction of first-year head coach Brendan Gorman. Gorman comes to Babson after serving as the top assistant at Rochester Institute of Technology for the past four seasons. A 2004 graduate of Hartwick College, Gorman was a four year letter-winner and one year assistant coach during his time with the Hawks.

Babson Athletes Give Back This Fall
This fall the Babson athletic teams not only performed on the field and in the classroom, but they also gave back to the community in many different ways. Several teams participated in community service events that benefited many organizations including the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the Jimmy Fund. Im extremely proud of everything our athletes have done and continue to do within the community, said Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur. These young men and women have tremendous demands on their time and energy, and yet they still make the effort to give back in whatever way they can. They genuinely thrive on touching the lives of others, and in doing so they serve as wonderful ambassadors for Babson College and our athletics program.

Blumenthal Named New Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach
Josh Blumenthal has been named the new assistant coach for the Babson College men's lacrosse program, head coach Brendan Gorman and Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur announced on Tuesday. A 2003 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Blumenthal comes to Babson after spending the last year as an assistant coach at Adelphi University, where he also received his Master's degree in Sports Management in August 2009. Prior to that, he spent four years as the head varsity lacrosse coach and sports information director at Palmer Trinity School in Miami, where he led his team to a top-10 finish in South Florida in three of his four seasons.

Brendan Gorman Named New Men's Lacrosse Coach
The Babson College Athletics Department has named Brendan Gorman as its new head men's lacrosse coach, Director of Athletics Josh MacArthur announced Thursday. The ninth coach in the 35-year history of the program, Gorman will also serve as the department's Strength and Conditioning Coach. A 2004 graduate of Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, Gorman comes to Babson after spending four years as the head assistant coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology. There, he served as the Tigers' defensive coordinator in 2006 and 2007 and their offensive coordinator in each of the last two seasons. In addition to recruiting and coaching numerous All-Conference and All-American athletes as well as several Academic All-Americans, he also served as the assistant supervisor of RITs varsity weight room.
