BOSTON—Babson College junior Jack O'Donoghue (Scituate, Mass.) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
O'Donoghue was a major force for the Beavers, finishing with 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers in narrow losses to 15th-ranked Bates and Union, which is receiving votes in the USILA poll. He opened the week with eight ground balls and three caused turnovers in a 10-8 setback against the Bobcats, and then recorded six ground balls and forced four turnovers as the Green and White dropped a 13-12 decision to the Dutchmen in overtime.
O'Donoghue also scored a pair of goals against Union, which were just the second and third tallies of his career.
Babson (1-2) returns to action on Thursday when it hosts UMass Dartmouth at 5 p.m.
