Madden Named to NEILA Academic All-New England Sqaud

NEWTON, Mass.—Babson College senior Daniel Madden (West Islip, N.Y.) was one of 42 Division III student-athletes named to the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-New England team late last week.

Madden started 15 of 16 contests this spring on defense and scooped up 24 ground balls to go along with 10 caused turnovers for the Beavers. He recorded the second assist of his career in a 13-10 loss at MIT on April 8 and notched his first collegiate goal in a 19-9 victory over Wheaton on April 19.

A three-time All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) selection, Madden started 61 of 66 career games and finished with 124 ground balls and 50 caused turnovers. He was also named to the academic all-conference team in each of his final three seasons at Babson.

In order to be selected to the academic all-region squad, student-athletes must have senior standing academically, a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, and be a significant contributor on the field.

Babson (8-8) wrapped up the year with a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal loss to Springfield back on May 3.
