BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Brendan Duffy (Duxbury, Mass.) scored with one second remaining in the fourth quarter as Babson College ripped off three goals in the final minute to rally past Roger Williams University for an 11-10 victory at MacDowell Field on March 15.
After trailing by as many as four early in the third quarter, Babson pulled within one on a goal by first-year Will Messner (South Kingstown, R.I.) with 5:48 to go in the fourth, only to see the Hawks regain a two-goal edge with 1:22 left. Junior Samuel Mishkind (Chappaqua, N.Y.) cut the deficit back to one with 55 seconds left and sophomore Owen Allen (Franklin, Mass.) forced a miscue by Roger Williams goalkeeper Weston Nolan with 20 seconds to go and fed Mishkind for the tying goal with 16 ticks remaining.
Senior Connor Maloney (Hopkinton, Mass.) won the ensuing face-off and found Duffy, who beat a defender on the right wing to set up his game-winning tally.
The come-from-behind victory over Roger Williams was the first of four fourth-quarter rallies this past spring for the Beavers. The Green and White outscored Springfield 6-0 in the final frame to edge the Pride 11-8 on April 2, which was followed by consecutive one-goal wins over Clark and MIT after trailing by three goals in both games later in the month.
