LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Babson College sophomores Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.) and Elizabeth Baer (Sal Lake City, Utah) both recorded a pair of top-five finishes as the Beavers competed in back-to-back giant slalom races at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday and Sunday. The women came in third in both races, while the men were fourth on day one and third on day two.
Blanchard came in fourth on consecutive days for the Green and White, which finished behind UConn, Castleton and Clarkson on Saturday, and the Golden Knights and Spartans on Sunday. Sophomore Mackenzie Henderson (Park City, Utah) followed up his 12th-place day-one finish with a seventh-place showing on day two, while classmate Sean Robinson (Reno, Nev.) came in 20th and 14th for the Beavers.
Fellow sophomore Douglas DeLuca (Holderness, N.H.), who was unable to finish two runs on Saturday, came back with a 13th-place result on Sunday. Classmate Eli Wolfson (Woodland Hills, Calif.) came in 23rd on day one and 17th on day two, while senior John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) finished 24th and 19th overall.
Baer posted a pair of top-five finishes as the Beavers came in behind Castleton and UConn in both GS events. Senior Tatum Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) came in eighth in the opening race and 10th on Sunday, while junior Teagan Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.) placed ninth on day one.
Sophomore Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) rebounded from a 20th-place finish on Saturday to record her best showing of the year (11th) on Sunday, while senior Alexis Kane (North Syracuse, N.Y.) finished 24th overall on Sunday.
Babson returns to New York state this week to compete in a pair of races at West Mountain beginning on Saturday.
