QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—The Babson College men's alpine ski team recorded their second consecutive victory in the giant slalom, while the women's squad came in second on Sunday at West Mountain.
The Beavers, who took over first place in the MacConnell Division men's standings, are one point ahead of Castleton, which came in fourth on Sunday. UConn finished second in the second GS race of the weekend, while Clarkson came in third.
Junior MacIntyre Henderson (Park City, Utah) registered the fastest first run and placed first overall by 1.53 seconds over classmate Jack Blanchard (Dover, Mass.). The victory was the second in the last three races for Henderson, who maintained his spot atop the league's individual standings. Both Henderson and Blanchard have now recorded four straight podium finishes in the GS.
Following Saturday's third-place finish, the Babson women moved up a spot to second after placing two skiers in the top five. Castleton came in first for the second day in a row, while UConn placed third nearly 13 seconds behind the Green and White.
Sophomore Sarah Mangiacotti (South Londonderry, Vt.) came in fourth for the second race in a row and junior Elizabeth Baer (Salt Lake City, Utah) was less than a second behind her in fifth position. First-year Julia Martin (Belmont, Mass.) finished ninth, senior Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) placed 17th and first-year Kendall Sargis (Duxbury, Mass.) rounded out the squad in 41st-place.
Babson returns to action next Saturday when it concludes MacConnell Division regular season competition with the first of two days of slalom races at Proctor Ski Area in Andover, N.H.
