John O'Reilly Named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Babson College Athletics Department has named John O'Reilly as its new assistant men's soccer coach, head coach Jon Anderson announced on Monday. O'Reilly comes to Babson following the departure of associate head coach Don Goodwin, who recently took over as the head coach at Salem State College.

A 2007 graduate of Lehigh University, O'Reilly brings a wealth of soccer experience to Babson. While at Lehigh, he was a two-time All-Conference and All-Region selection while earning Team MVP, Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, and NSCAA First Team All-America accolades as a senior. That fall, he helped lead the Mountain Hawks to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Since his graduation in spring of 2007, O'Reilly has worked at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols in Cambridge, where he has served as an Assistant Coach for the boy's varsity soccer team while also working with the boy's and girl's JV programs. He has also served as an Assistant Boy's Under-17 Coach for Inter SC and a coach for the School of Excellence Program for Mass Premier Soccer, and he has played professionally for both the Cincinnati Kings in Ohio and the Vaerlose Boldklub in Denmark.

A native of nearby Arlington, Massachusetts, O'Reilly joins a Babson Soccer program that is coming off its third NEWMAC Championship in the last seven years and its 19th NCAA Tournament appearance.

"I am very excited that John is joining our staff," Anderson said. "As a native of New England  and the Boston area he is already connected with the surrounding soccer community. John has been a highly successful player, and his positive, energetic, and winning mentality is a perfect fit for our soccer program and Babson College."
