John O'Reilly Named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
The Babson College Athletics Department has named John O’Reilly as its new assistant men’s soccer coach, head coach Jon Anderson announced on Monday. A 2007 graduate of Lehigh University, O’Reilly brings a wealth of soccer experience to Babson. While at Lehigh, he was a two-time All-Conference and All-Region selection while earning Team MVP, Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, and NSCAA First Team All-America accolades as a senior. That fall, he helped lead the Mountain Hawks to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Since his graduation in spring of 2007, O’Reilly has worked at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols in Cambridge, where he has served as an Assistant Coach for the boy’s varsity soccer team while also working with the boy’s and girl’s JV programs.

Babson Celebrates Class of 2009 At 28th Annual Senior Awards Banquet
The Babson College Athletics Department held its 28th Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night, where a total of seven individuals were honored. Men’s Soccer senior Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) was named Male Athlete of the Class, while women’s lacrosse senior Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.) was selected as the Female Athlete of the Class. Ice Hockey senior Alex DiPietro (Winthrop, Mass.) was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Class, and baseball senior Jeff Wojnar (Bellaire, Texas) took home the Michael J. Conlon Award. In addition to the senior awards, Professor Tony Wain was the recipient of the prestigious Paul C. Staake Award for outstanding contributions to Babson Athletics, while a pair of first-year athletes were also honored. Field hockey and softball first-year Jess Pashos (Winchester, Mass.) received the Lori Vengrow Award, and men’s tennis freshman Danny Schneider (Littleton, Mass.) claimed the Colin "Chip" Brown Award.

Fogarty, Gleason Earn NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-East Region Honors
Babson College men’s soccer juniors Dan Fogarty and Sean Gleason have earned 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas Scholar All-East Region honors. Fogarty earned third team honors and Gleason received honorable mention honors. The pair also garnered New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference honors for their outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom this past fall.

McNamara, Winn To Play In NEISL All-Star Game
Babson College men's soccer senior co-captains Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) and Brendan McNamara (Exeter, N.H.) will be playing in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) All-Star Game this weekend. The game will be played at Clark University in Worcester on Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. Winn and McNamara were selected for the NEISL All-Star Game after leading Babson to the NEWMAC Championship and the program's 19th bid to the NCAA Tournament this past fall.

Men's Soccer Hosts Alumni Game at First Annual Babson Athletics Alumni Weekend
The Babson College men’s soccer team hosted an alumni game on Saturday, April 18th as a part of the first annual Babson Athletics Alumni Weekend. Over 25 Babson men’s soccer alumni came back to campus to participate in a friendly game against the current Babson men’s soccer team. Babson College hosted its first annual Athletics Alumni Spring Celebration weekend, bringing nearly 300 former players, coaches, and family members to campus. Hundreds of alumni attended an afternoon BBQ on the Upper Fields on Saturday, April 18th. Several programs hosted alumni games in the morning, including women's lacrosse, field hockey, men's soccer, men's and women's tennis and ice hockey while Babson also played host to seven home varsity events.

Babson Inducts Five Into Hall Of Fame To Highlight Athletics Alumni Celebration
Babson College hosted its first annual Athletics Alumni Spring Celebration this weekend, bringing nearly 300 former players, coaches, and family members to campus. Highlighting the spectacular weekend was the 12th Babson Athletics Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony on Friday night, where longtime baseball coach and administrator Frank Millerick, baseball great David DiGangi '94, soccer stars Jim Fischer '83 and Dan Pucci '98, and hockey standout Jim Creamer '90 were enshrined among the department’s elite.

McNamara, Winn Earn All-New England Accolades
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its all-region teams on Wednesday, and Babson College senior co-captains Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) and Brendan McNamara (Exeter, N.H.) were both honored. Winn was named to the All-New England First Team, while Mcnamara was selected to the All-New England Third Team. Winn's fourth consecutive All-New England nod comes after yet another record-setting season. The 6-foot-3 forward broke his own program mark for points in a season, finishing with 14 goals and 14 assists for 42 points in 21 games. The anchor of the Babson defense, McNamara garnered his first All-New England selection after the finest season of his four-year career. The 6-foot-2 back played 21 games for the Beavers, helping the team post a 1.02 goals against average and nine shutouts. McNamara also played a key role on the offensive end, scoring the first three goals of his collegiate career.

Winn Garners First Team All-America Honors
After guiding the Babson College men's soccer team to the 2008 NEWMAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth, senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) received the nation's highest honor when he was named to the National soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America First Team on Friday. Winn's second career All-American honor comes on the heels of yet another record-setting season in which he broke his own program mark for points in a season with 14 goals and 14 assists for 42 points in 21 games. Of the 17 All-Americans in Babson men's soccer history, he is just the fifth player to earn national First Team recognition, joining program greats Dan Pucci (1996), Mark Sullivan (1985), Mark McNabb (1983), and Jim Fisher (1982). The 6-foot-3 striker will graduate this spring as Babson's all-time leader in both goals and points, finishing with 56 goals and 29 assists for 141 points in 83 career games.

RIC Ties Babson Men's Soccer In NCAA Tournament First Round, Beavers Fall in PKs
Playing in its first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament game, the visiting Rhode Island College men’s soccer team advanced past host Babson College in penalty kicks in a First-Round matchup at Hartwell Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon. The contest officially ended in a 0-0 double-overtime tie, with the Anchormen advancing in PKs, 3-1. Rhode Island College (12-5-5) will now move on to Sunday’s Second Round, where the Anchormen will play the winner of Saturday’s second First-Round game between the Stevens Institute of Technology and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, Babson sees its fantastic 2008 season come to an end with a record of 16-4-2.

Winn Earns Third Straight NEWMAC Player of the Year Award, Joins Five Others With Conference Honors
After leading his team to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship and its 19th NCAA Tournament berth, Babson senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) received his third straight NEWMAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Year award this week. In all, a total of six Babson players were honored. Winn, fellow senior co-captain Brendan McNamara (Exeter, N.H.), and sophomore Harrison Heller (Fort Wayne, Ind.) were named to the All-Conference First Team, while first-year Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.) and junior Dan Fogarty (Brookline, N.H.) were named to the All-NEWMAC Second Team. Fogarty was also named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference squad, as was fellow junior Sean Gleason (Clinton, N.Y.).

Peter Crowley Named NEWMAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Babson College first year goalkeeper, Peter Crowley, was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday. Crowley helped lead the Beavers to their third NEWMAC Championship and 19th NCAA Tournament bid this past weekend.

Men's Soccer To Host First Two Rounds Of NCAA Division III Tournament
One day after winning the NEWMAC Championship and securing the 19th NCAA Tournament berth in program history, the Babson College men's soccer team learned that it will host the opening two rounds this coming weekend. The Beavers will take on Rhode Island College in the first of two opening-round matchups on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. That contest will be followed by a game between Stevens Institute of Technology and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at approximately 1:30 p.m. Babson will then play host to a Second Round contest on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MEN'S SOCCER WINS NEWMAC CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 3-1 WIN OVER MIT
The Babson College men’s soccer team secured its 19th bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament and its first since 2004 on Sunday, as the top-seeded Beavers defeated second-seed MIT, 3-1, in the 2008 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament Championship Game at Hartwell-Rogers Field. With the victory, Babson (16-4-1) earned its third NEWMAC Championship since the inception of the conference back in 1998 and received an automatic bid to next week’s NCAA Tourney. The official tournament field and bracket will be announced on Monday morning at 9 a.m. Senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) recorded one goal and one assist for Babson, while first-years Max Walker (Newton, Mass.) and Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.) also added goals.

Two Late Goals Lift #1 Babson Past #4 Coast Guard, 2-1
The Babson College men's soccer team scored two goals in a 41-second span late in regulation to erase a 1-0 deficit and defeat the fourth-seeded United States Coast Guard Academy, 2-1, in the semifinal round of the 2008 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Tournament at Babson's Hartwell Rogers on Saturday morning. With the win, the Beavers (15-4-1), ranked second in New England, advanced to Sunday's championship game at 1 p.m., where they will face the winner of Saturday's second semifinal matchup between second-seeded MIT and sixth-seeded Wheaton. Meanwhile, Coast Guard (10-8-1) saw it's conference tournament run come to an end.

Babson's Billy Nickerson Named NEWMAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
After helping Babson earn its first outright regular season conference title in eight years, men’s soccer first-year Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week on Monday. Nickerson scored the game-winning goal in Babson's 2-1 victory over MIT on Saturday, allowing the Beavers to finish in sole possession of first place in the regular season standings for the first time since 2000. With the contest tied at 1-1, Nickerson netted his ninth goal of the season at 52:53, helping Babson secure the win and with it a first-round bye in this week's conference tournament.

Men's Soccer Dumps MIT, 2-1, To Clinch Top Seed In NEWMAC Tournament
The Babson College men’s soccer team defeated visiting MIT, 2-1, in a showdown of regionally-ranked New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) powers on Saturday, helping the Beavers clinch the regular season conference title and the top seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament for the first time since the 2000 season. Babson, ranked third in New England by the NCAA, improved to 14-4-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the NEWMAC with their seventh straight victory, while MIT, ranked fourth in the region, fell to 14-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference. Junior Chris Morris (Shoreline, Wash.) and first-year Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.) both scored goals for the Beavers, who will now host the conference semifinals and finals next weekend.

Babson Men's Soccer Trumps Bowdoin, 2-1
Senior tri-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) scored the go-ahead goal just over three minutes into the second half as the Babson College men’s soccer team won a hard-fought contest with visiting Bowdoin College, 2-1, in non-conference action at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Sunday afternoon. It was the sixth straight victory for the Beavers, ranked fourth in New England, as they improved to 13-4-1. First-year Max Walker (Newton, Mass.) put Babson in front at the 15-minute mark, as he collected a rebound of his own blocked shot and tucked it into the lower left corner for a 1-0 advantage. After the Polar Bears tied the game later in the half, Babson grabbed the lead for good early in the second when Winn converted consecutive feeds from junior Sean Gleason (Clinton, N.Y.) and first-year Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.).

Babson College matched its season-high scoring total with five goals as the Beavers defeated visiting WPI, 5-1, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s soccer match at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon. With their fifth consecutive victory, the Beavers improved to 12-4-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the conference, while WPI dropped to 7-7-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the NEWMAC.

Brendan McNamara Named NEWMAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Babson senior co-captain Brendan McNamara (Exeter, N.H.) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s soccer player of the week Monday. It was his first weekly conference honor of the season. In the Beavers two games last week, McNamara scored two goals, including one game-winner, while leading the Babson defense in a 2-0 week. He netted the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Roger Williams on Thursday, and then scored a key insurance goal in a 2-0 win at Springfield on Saturday.

The Babson College men's soccer team won its fourth straight game on Saturday as the Beavers upended host Springfield College, 2-0, in a key NEWMAC matchup. Senior co-captain Brendan McNamara scored his second goal of the season off an assist from fellow senior co-captain Tim Winn to lift the Babson College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over host Roger Williams University on Thursday afternoon. With their 10th win of the season, the Beavers improved to 10-4-1 on the year.

Babson Men's Soccer Knocks Off #25 Wheaton, 3-1
The Babson College men’s soccer team defeated nationally-ranked Wheaton College 3-1 Saturday afternoon in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at Keefe Field on the Wheaton campus. The Lyons entered today’s contest ranked 25th nationally and fourth in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Beavers are also among the top in the region at number seven. With the win, the Beavers improved to 9-4-1 and 2-0-1 in the NEWMAC.

Men's Soccer Overpowers Westfield State, 2-0
Host Babson College scored two second-half goals and posted a commanding 25-4 shot advantage en route to a 2-0 victory over visiting Westfield State College in non-conference men’s soccer action on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers snapped a brief two-game skid to improve to 8-4-1 on the season, while the Owls dropped to 5-4-1 this fall. Senior Shane Fogarty (Rye, N.H.) and junior Dan Fogarty (Brookline, N.H.) each scored goals for Babson, while first-year goalkeeper Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) made two saves in earning his sixth shutout of the season. Senior tri-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, N.H.) picked up assists on both of the Beavers’ goals, and sophomore Dan Hixon (Foxboro, Mass.) and first-year Joe Delaney (Weymouth, Mass.) added one assist apiece.

The Babson College men’s soccer team, ranked #7 in New England, fell to 3rd-ranked Williams College 4-2 in a non-conference matchup on the Williams campus on Sunday afternoon. Babson first-year Billy Nickerson (Middletown, Mass.) and senior co-captain Brendan McNamara (Exeter, N.H.) each contributed a goal for the Beavers. With the win, Williams, also ranked 21st in the country, improved to an overall record of 6-2-0 while the Beavers dropped to 7-4-1.

Union College freshman forward Craig Santangalo (Sayville, NY) scored two goals and freshman goalkeeper Mike Szczesniak (Armonk, NY) recorded his first career victory in net as Union defeated Babson, 3-1 at College Park Field Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen improved to 6-2-1 while the Beavers fell to 7-3-1.

Babson's Tim Winn Named ECAC Offensive Player of the Week and NEWMAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Babson College senior co-captain and all-time leading scorer Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Offensive Player of the Week and the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending September 28th. Winn scored three goals, including one game-winner, and added two assists in a 2-0 week for the Beavers.The senior forward factored in on five of the team’s six scored this week, and now leads the team with 10 goals and four assists for 24 total points in nine games this season.

Winn, Crowley Lead Men's Soccer Past Coast Guard, 1-0
Senior forward Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) scored the game’s lone goal in the 27th minute and first-year goalie Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) matched his career-high with nine saves as host Babson College defeated the visiting United States Coast Guard Academy, 1-0, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s soccer contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Beavers improved to 7-2-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference, while the Bears dropped to 5-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league competition. Babson grabbed the lead on Winn’s team-leading 10th goal of the year at 26:44. After taking a feed from junior Dan Fogarty (Brookline, N.H.) on the left side of the box, Winn cut back toward midfield to shake a defender and then ripped a shot into the lower left corner for what would turn out to be the game’s only score.

Fogarty Guides Men's Soccer To 5-2 Win At Framingham State
Junior midfielder Dan Fogarty (Brookline, N.H.) factored in on four of Babson's five goals and senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) and first-year Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.) each scored twice as the Beavers defeated host Framingham State College, 5-2, in a non-conference men's soccer match on Wednesday afternoon. It was the first loss of the season for the Rams (5-1-1), while Babson improved to 6-2-1. Fogarty notched one goal and assisted three others for the Beavers, while rookie goalie Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) finished with six saves.

Men's Soccer Ties Clark, 0-0
Babson College and Clark University battled to a double-overtime scoreless tie in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s soccer game played Saturday at Granger Field. It was the NEWMAC opener for both teams. The game was evenly matched as Babson held a slim 11-10 advantage in shots, 6-5 edge in saves, and 4-2 margin on corner kicks. Freshman keeper Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) was stellar in net for the Beavers, stopping six shots in the shutout.

Winn Lifts Babson Men’s Soccer To 1-0 Overtime Victory Over Keene State
Babson College senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with 1:50 remaining in the first overtime as the Beavers defeated visiting Keene State, 1-0, in a non-conference battle between regional powerhouses on Wednesday afternoon. After the Babson defense successfully blocked back-to-back shots with just over two minutes remaining in OT, rookie goalie Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) secured the ball and blasted a towering punt well into the Keene State zone. Sophomore Harrison Heller (Fort Wayne, Ind.) then headed the ball upfield and behind the Owls’ defense, where Winn ran it down. Breaking in alone on the Keene State goalie, the Beavers’ all-time leading scorer tucked a low shot just inside the left post at 98:10 for his seventh goal of the season and 49th of his illustrious career.

Nickerson, Winn Propel Babson Men's Soccer Past UMass-Boston
First-year Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.) and senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) each socred goals to lead host Babson College to a 2-0 victory over visiting UMass-Boston in a non-conference men’s soccer contest at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers upped their season mark to 4-2, while the Beacons slipped to 2-3. In his first game back since suffering an injury in the season opener, Nickerson gave the Beavers offense a much-needed spark early in the second half, as he netted his second goal of the season on a Babson corner kick. Winn later tacked on his team-leading sixth goal of the season at 86:59, and first-year Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) finished with five saves in net to complete the shutout.

Brandeis University scored two goals in the final five minutes to claim a 3-1 victory over visiting Babson College in a matchup of longtime men's soccer rivals on Wednesday night. Senior Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) scored the Beavers' lone goal - his team-leading fifth of the season - while rookie goalie Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) finished with four saves in net.

First-year Max Walker (Newton, Mass.) and junior Dan Fogarty (Brookline, N.H.) each recorded one goal and one assist to help the Babson College men's soccer team defeat host Aurora University, 3-1, in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Beavers salvaged a split of their two-game midwest trip and improved to 3-1-0 overall. Junior Teddy Droseros (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also scored his first career goal in the win, while sophomore Patrick Baird (Clinton, Tenn.) and first-year Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) split time in net.

Winn Breaks Scoring Record, But Men's Soccer Falls To Chicago
Babson College senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) moved into sole possession of first place on the program's all-time points list on Saturday, but the Beavers still fell to the University of Chicago, 3-2, on the first game of the team's midwest trip. Winn, who entered the day tied with Jonah Frisch '03 with 103 career points, scored a pair of goals to push his record total to 107. However, Chicago rallied with a pair of second-half goals to come away with the 3-2 win.

Babson Stifles Colby-Sawyer, 3-0, To Claim Own Classic Championship
Senior co-captain Brendan McNamara (Exeter, N.H.) and the Babson College defense held visiting Colby-Sawyer College to just three shots as the Beavers defeated the Chargers, 3-0, on the final day of the second annual Babson Classic at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Babson (2-0-0) clinched its second straight Classic championship.

Men's Soccer Kicks Off 2008 With 3-0 Win Over Wentworth
Senior co-captain Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) scored twice and first-year Billy Nickerson (Middleton, Mass.) added his first collegiate goal as the Babson College men's soccer team blanked the visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology, 3-0, in the first round of the second annual Babson Soccer Classic at Hartwell-Rogers Field on Saturday. It was the season opener for both teams. Rookie Peter Crowley (Lexington, Mass.) earned his first collegiate shutout, finishing with three saves in the victory.

2008 Season Preview: Men's Soccer
With nine players lost to graduation, the Babson College men's soccer team will feature a much different look in 2008. However, the Beavers should continue to feature plenty of firepower up front thanks to the return of 2006 All-American and all-time leading goal-scorer Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.), as they look to remain one of the top soccer powers in the region. Last fall, Babson went 12-6-2 and advanced to the NEWMAC Finals for the second straight season. At the heart of the team's success was Winn, who led the conference and broke his own single-season school record with 17 goals while also totaling a league-high 37 points. Along the way, he became Babson's all-time goals leader with 42 and collected his second straight NEWMAC Player of the Year award.
