Stento Named NEWMAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

BABSON PARK, Mass. - After leading his team to its second consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference championship, Babson College sophomore Jimmy Stento (Needham, Mass.) was named the NEWMAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday.
Stento factored in on three of Babson's four goals in leading the top-seeded Beavers to back-to-back tournament wins this weekend. On Saturday, he scored Babson's first goal and then assisted the eventual game-winner in a 2-1 semifinal victory over fourth-seeded WPI. On Sunday, Stento snapped a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 77th minute to lift the Beavers to a 2-1 victory over second-seeded Wheaton in the conference championship game.
After seeing limited minutes during the majority of the season due to an illness, Stento has come off the bench to carry the Beavers' offense down the stretch. He now has three goals and three assists for nine points in his last three games, during which time he has factored in on six of Babson's eight scores. For the season, Stento has three goals and four assist for 10 points.
"After an up and down start to his first season at Babson, Jimmy has come on in the last few weeks to not only score big goals but set up goals down the stretch," says head coach Jon Anderson. " He plays with intensity and confidence that sparks the team when he steps on the field."
