Three From Mens Soccer Earn All-Region Honors; Fogarty Named NSCAA Scholar Athlete All-American

Babson Park, Mass. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) have both announced their respective 2009 All-New England Teams, and three Babson men's soccer players have been recognized. Senior Dan Fogarty (Brookline, N.H.) and first-year Eric Anderson (Scituate, Mass.) were both named to the NSCAA All-New England First Team and senior Chris Morris (Shoreline, Wash.) was named to the second team. For the ECAC, Fogarty and Anderson were named to the All-New England Second Team. The NSCAA has also released the Scholar Athlete awards list with Fogarty earning a spot on the Scholar Athlete All-America Second Team as well as the NSCAA Scholar Athlete All-East Region First Team.
Fogarty and Anderson both earned All-New England honors after
powering the Beavers' offense this fall. This is Fogarty's first
All-Region honor of his magnificent four-year career for
the Beavers. In 2009, Fogarty led Babson and the New England
Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) with 13 assists
while also contributing four goals for 21 total points. He will
graduate with 39 assists in his remarkable career - five better
than the next highest total and the most in the 43-year history of
the Babson soccer program. In addition to his All-Region honors,
Fogarty was also named to the NEWMAC All-Conference First-Team. On
top of Fogarty's accomplishments on the field, he has earned the
outstanding honor of being named to the NSCAA Scholar Athlete
All-America Second Team and to the NSCAA Scholar Athlete All-East
Region First Team. These are not the first academic honors for
Fogarty as he was also named to the NEWMAC All-Academic team in all
three years of eligibility as well as the NSCAA Scholar Athlete
All-Region Third Team in 2008.
The son of head coach Jon Anderson, forward Eric Anderson was
spectacular in his first collegiate campaign. The 6-foot-3 striker
led the team and ranked third in the NEWMAC in both goals and
points, amassing 13 goals and six assists for 32 points in 20
games. He also paced the Beavers and ranked se
cond in the league with six game-winning goals this fall. In
addition to being named to the ECAC All-New England Second Team,
Anderson was also named the ECAC New England Rookie of the Year,
the first-ever in program history. In the NEWMAC, Anderson was also
selected as league Rookie of the Year and was placed on the
All-Conference First-Team. He is Babson's first NEWMAC Rookie of
the Year selection since goalie Nick Todd in 1998.
Also earning his first All-Region honor, senior back Chris Morris anchored the Beaver defense this fall. Switching from midfield to the back position midway through the season, Morris played magnificently down the stretch, helping Babson win its final five games and eight of its last nine. The senior defender also contributed an assist on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 overtime win over Coast Guard on September 26. Morris was also named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team.
As a team, Babson finished the year with a record of 15-6-1, including a 6-0 mark in conference play. The Beavers won their second straight NEWMAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, and earned the program's 21st bid to the NCAA Tournament. Babson fell to Western New England College, 1-0, in a muddy, rain-soaked First Round game at Wesleyan University.
