BABSON PARK, Mass.—Following another outstanding year across all three seasons, the Babson College men finished second in the inaugural New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Presidents Cup standings.
The Presidents Cup is an all-sports award presented to the top overall men's and women's programs in the conference and is determined using a weighted points system based on the order of finish during both regular season and championship play.
The Beavers, who scored 7.24 points per sport, finished just ahead of third-place Springfield College, and were edged out only by MIT, who won the Presidents Cup after claiming five regular season championships.
The men's soccer team highlighted the 2012-13 year with its fifth straight regular season title, while running its NEWMAC unbeaten streak to 38 games, and the men's tennis team posted its best winning percentage since 2004, finishing second in the regular season standings and reaching the NEWMAC Tournament championship match for the first time since 2009.
Baseball and men's basketball both reached the conference tournament semifinals after finishing third and fifth during the regular season, respectively, while cross country and swimming & diving both posted top-five finishes for the second straight year.
