CENTERVILLE, Mass.—Babson College senior goalkeeper Jackson Klein (Maplewood, N.J.), who was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, added to his accolades on Tuesday night when league announced its weekly awards, garnering the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week award.
Klein was superb in his only game of the week, stopping eight shots in a pivotal 1-0 victory at WPI as the Beavers clinched a spot in the upcoming conference tournament. Seven of his eight saves came in the final 45 minutes, including a key stop on a penalty kick in the 55th minute to help the Green and White maintain a one-goal lead.
Klein has been at his best over the last five matches, making 23 saves and conceding just two goals, as the Beavers have gone 3-1-1. In 15 starts this fall, Klein is 10-4-1 with five clean sheets, and is currently second in the league with a 0.85 goals against average.
Babson will play its final two regular season matches of the year this week, travelling to Lasell for a 3 p.m. start on Wednesday before hosting Emerson at 1 p.m. Saturday.
