Men's Soccer Earns Academic Recognition from United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Babson College men's soccer program was honored for its work in the classroom for the second year in a row when the United Soccer Coaches announced their 2016-17 Academic Team award recipients on Thursday.

The Beavers, who were one of 282 collegiate men's soccer programs to be honored, finished last season with a 3.04 cumulative grade-point average. The Green and White won its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title since 2012 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in nine years last fall.

To qualify for the award, teams must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.

Babson (5-5-0, 0-3-0 NEWMAC) returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Emerson at 1 p.m.
