6/1/09 - M Soccer
The Babson College Athletics Department has named John O’Reilly as its new assistant men’s soccer coach, head coach Jon Anderson announced on Monday. A 2007 graduate of Lehigh University, O’Reilly brings a wealth of soccer experience to Babson. While at Lehigh, he was a two-time All-Conference and All-Region selection while earning Team MVP, Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, and NSCAA First Team All-America accolades as a senior. That fall, he helped lead the Mountain Hawks to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Since his graduation in spring of 2007, O’Reilly has worked at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols in Cambridge, where he has served as an Assistant Coach for the boy’s varsity soccer team while also working with the boy’s and girl’s JV programs. The Babson College Athletics Department held its 28th Annual Senior Awards Banquet on Friday night, where a total of seven individuals were honored. Men’s Soccer senior Tim Winn (Sutton, Mass.) was named Male Athlete of the Class, while women’s lacrosse senior Jackie Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.) was selected as the Female Athlete of the Class. Ice Hockey senior Alex DiPietro (Winthrop, Mass.) was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Class, and baseball senior Jeff Wojnar (Bellaire, Texas) took home the Michael J. Conlon Award. In addition to the senior awards, Professor Tony Wain was the recipient of the prestigious Paul C. Staake Award for outstanding contributions to Babson Athletics, while a pair of first-year athletes were also honored. Field hockey and softball first-year Jess Pashos (Winchester, Mass.) received the Lori Vengrow Award, and men’s tennis freshman Danny Schneider (Littleton, Mass.) claimed the Colin "Chip" Brown Award. 4/30/09 - M Soccer
Babson College men’s soccer juniors Dan Fogarty and Sean Gleason have earned 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas Scholar All-East Region honors. Fogarty earned third team honors and Gleason received honorable mention honors. The pair also garnered New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference honors for their outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom this past fall.
