BABSON PARK, Mass. - The Babson College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both defeated the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Saturday for their second wins of the season. The women won by a score of 128-88 and the men defeated the Corsairs 129-110. Meaghan Rhode (St. Paul, Minn.), Sara Martinek (Riverside, Ill.), Mia Filippini (Lake Forest, Ill.), Mallory Mosk (San Clemente, Calif.), Mauricio Krantzberg (Cancun, Mexico) and Ted Plaisted (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) were each a part of three first-place finishes for the Beavers.
For the women, Rohde's individual firsts came in the 1000 free with a time of 11:37.56 and the 500 free finishing in 5:40.17. Martinek placed first in the 100 and 200 free with times of 58.27 and 2:05.54, respectively. Filippini finished first in the 50 free with a time of 25.02 and 100 fly in 1:02.29, and Mosk earned her two individual first place finishes in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:19.96 and in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.78.
Babson's two relays teams each earned first-place finishes. Rohde, Martinek, Filippini, and Sabrina List (Red Bank, N.J.) were all a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished first with a time of 3:57.03. The 200 medley relay featured Mosk, List, Chandra Kelley (Natick, Mass.) and Nikita Nadkarni (North Brunswick, N.J.), who finished first with a time of 2:01.47. Nadkarni also placed first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:11.75.
For the men, Plaisted won the 200 free in 1:52.70 and the 100 back in 57.08. Mike Regan (Towaco, N.J.) earned victories in the 500 and 1000 free with times of 5:23.48 and 11:23.10, respectively. Tom Foutsitzis (Shrewsbury, Mass.) placed first in the 100 free with a time of 49.60 and Krantzberg earned his individual first place finish in the 50 free with a time of 22.30. Foutsitzis, Krantzberg, Plaisted, and Ricardo Rameriz (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) combined for the first place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:23.13. The 200 medley relay team also placed first in a time of 1:44.28 featuring Krantzberg, Philippe Noelting (Toronto, Ontario), Ryan Pope (Hawthorne, N.Y.), and Justin Louie (Chatham, N.J.).
The Beavers host Brandeis University in their next meet on November 13th at 6:30 pm at Morse Pool.
