Wheaton Sweeps Swimming and Diving


NORTON, Mass. - The Babson College swimming and diving teams competed in their fifth meet in the last 11 days on Saturday, as both squads fell to host Wheaton College. The men's team lost by a score of 159-122, while the women fell to the Lyons, 171-104.

Sophomore Mauricio Krantzberg (Cancun, Mexico) led the Babson men with four first-place finishes. Individually he won both the 50 and 100 freestyle events while also taking part in two victorious relays. He joined junior Ted Plaisted (Mountain Lakes, N.J.), senior captain Philippe Noelting (Toronto, Ontario), and first-year Tom Foutsitzis (Shrewsbury, Mass.) in the 400 medley relay and then teamed up with Plaisted, Foutsitzis, and senior Ricardo Ramirez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) in the 200 free relay.

In addition to their relay victories, Plaisted and Noelting also joined Krantzberg with individual wins. Plaisted finished first in the 200 back while Noelting touched first in the 100 back.

On the women's side of the meet, first-year Mallory Mosk (San Clemente, Calif.) recorded first place finishes in the 200 fly and 200 back, while classmate Meaghan Rohde (St. Paul, Minn.) recorded a victory in the 500 free. Babson also received a win from the 200 free relay team of sophomore Mia Filippini (Lake Forest, Ill.), first-year Chandra Kelley (Natick, Mass.), first-year Brittany Bishop (Little Neck, N.Y.), and first-year Sara Martinek (Riverside, Ill.).
