NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams kicked off the season at UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday. The Beaver men collected a 146-72 win, while the women fell to the Corsairs, 128-86.
The Green and White was dominant in the men's half of the meet, winning nine individual events and both relays. Senior An Truong(West Roxbury, Mass.) was victorious in his first three races of the season, claiming the 500-yard freestyle by over 13 seconds and the 200-yard individual medley by nearly nine seconds. He also picked up a narrow victory over classmate Andrew Wen (Boxborough, Mass.) in the 100-yard butterfly.
Senior Chris Roan (East Wareham, Mass.) got off to a strong start with wins in both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events. JuniorKevin Shivers (Mercersburg, Pa.) touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke and was also part of the Beavers' first-place 400 free relay team along with Roan, sophomore Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and first-year Ryan Campbell (Wayland, Mass.). Junior Anton Pronichenko (Palisades, Calif.) won the 100-yard breaststroke after opening the meet on the victorious 200-yard medley relay team that included Campbell, Wen and Posk.
First-year Peter Sorenson (Blacksburg, Va.) enjoyed a strong debut for the Green and White with victories in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events.
In the women's half of the meet, Babson won three events and posted eight runner-up finishes. Sophomore Reilly Robbins(Centerville, Mass.) touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley and first-year diver Tessa Amoroso (Rowley, Mass.) was victorious on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
Senior Becca Greenberg (Beverly, Mass.) came in second in both the 50 free and 100 free, while junior Madeline Dupre (Fiskdale, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 500 free and the 1000 free. First-year Maria Orive (Guatemala City, Guatemala) was second in the 200 free and third in the 500 free, and classmate Philipa Yu (Beijing, China) touched the wall second in the 100 breast and was third in the 50 free.
Sophomore Fernanda Tilkian (Key Biscayne, Fla.) recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and a third-place result in the 100 back, while Alua Noyan (Brookline, Mass.) finished second on the 1-meter diving board.
Babson returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Clark for a 1 p.m. meet.

• First-year Lilly Rubeck (Easthampton, Mass.) came in third in the 100 free and fourth in the 100 breast in her Babson debut.
