Swimming & Diving Drops Dual Meet At Wheaton

NORTON, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams were swept in a dual meet at Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon. The Beaver men suffered a 159-119 setback, while the Green and White were defeated 164-72 by the Lyons in the women's meet.

The Babson men combined for six victories and nine second-place finishes, led by seniors An Truong (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Chris Roan (East Wareham, Mass.). Truong touched the wall first in both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle, as well as the 400-yard individual medley, while Roan won both the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly to go along with a runner-up showing in the 200-yard freestyle.

Senior Austen Noh (San Jose, Calif.) finished second with season-best times in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. Classmate Andrew Wen (Boxborough, Mass.) also recorded a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly, where he posted his top time of the season.

Sophomore Alex Grant (St. Petersburg, Fla.) posted the Beavers' best time of the season to touch the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly, and came in third as the Green and White swept the top three spots in the 100-yard butterfly. Classmate Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.) came in second in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. Junior Kevin Shivers (Mercersburg, Pa.) and first-year Ryan Campbell (Wayland, Mass.) finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke, and Shivers added a fourth-place result in the 200-yard backstroke.

The Babson women were led by junior Paris Ekman (Fargo, N.D.) and first-year Tessa Amoroso (Rowley, Mass.), who finished first and second, respectively, in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events. Ekman posted scores of 246.45 in both events, while Amoroso finished with season-best marks of 242.25 on both boards.

Sophomore Reilly Robbins (Centerville, Mass.) came in fourth with a season-best time in the 200-yard backstroke, and also recorded a fifth-place result in the 100-yard backstroke. First-year Maria Orive (Guatemala City, Guatemala) came in fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle, while junior Madeline Dupre (Fiskdale, Mass.) finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle.

Babson returns to the pool on Tuesday when its hosts Bentley at 6 p.m.

NOTABLE
• The women's 400-yard medley relay team of Dupre, Robbins, senior Becca Greenberg (Beverly, Mass.) and sophomore Fernanda Tilkian (Key Biscayne, Fla.) recorded a season-best time of 4:52.84.
• The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Roan, Shivers, Truong and Posk recorded the team's best time of the year (1:30.64) to finish second in the event.
