Swimming & Diving Drops Dual Meet at Wheaton

NORTON, Mass.—The Babson College swimming & diving teams were swept in a dual meet at Wheaton College on Saturday as the men were defeated, 181-111, while the women suffered a 206-73 loss to the Lyons.

The Beavers recorded four victories and seven runner-up finishes in the men's half of the meet, led by a pair of wins from first-year Jack Lucero (Huntington Beach, Calif.). He posted a time of 10:05.62 to take the 1000-yard freestyle and then recorded a time of 4:23.86 to finish first in the 400-yard individual medley.

Fellow first-year Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) enjoyed a strong day as he won the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 23.85 and was second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.93. Senior Anton Pronichenko (Palisades, Calif.) touched the wall first in the 50-yard breaststroke (28.10) and late recorded a second-place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Junior Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.) was the runner-up in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events, while classmate Alex Grant (St. Petersburg, Fla.) finished second in the 500 free and added a third-place result in the 100-yard butterfly. Sophomore Kenneth Mun (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) and first-year Michael Cerny (Windsor, Conn.) also came in third in the 500 free and 50-yard butterfly, respectively.

The Babson women were led by the duo of senior Paris Ekman (Fargo, N.D.) and first-year Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.), who combined to record five top-three finishes. Ekman posted a six-dive total of 264.45 to finish first on the 1-meter board and added a runner-up finish in the 3-meter event, while Rentovich came in second in the 50-yard breaststroke and was third in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.

Sophomore Tessa Amoroso (Rowley, Mass.) finished third in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, while senior Madeline Dupre (Fiskdale, Mass.) came in fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke. Classmate Mallory Ham (Norwalk, Conn.) took home a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and junior Reilly Robbins (Centerville, Mass.) came in fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in her season debut.

The Beavers being their final week of regular season meets at Bentley on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
