Swimming & Diving Wins 15 Events, Splits Dual Meet at Clark

WORCESTER, Mass.—The Babson College swimming & diving teams combined to win 15 of 22 swimming events on the way to splitting a dual meet at Clark University on Saturday afternoon. The Beaver men defeated the Cougars, 133-90, while the Green and White fell to Clark 121-80 on the women's side.

The Babson women were led by sophomore Tirza Rentovich (Harrisburg, Pa.), who had a hand in three of the team's six victories on Saturday. She came in first in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.71) and 100-yard freestyle (56.41), in addition to teaming with first-years Nataliya Gowan (San Antonio, Texas), Luna Zhang (Auburndale, Mass.) and Celine Nie (Irvine, Calif.) to win the 200-yard medley relay.

Nie also touched the wall first with a time of 2:23.18 in the 200-yard individual medley, and Zhang came in second in the 200-yard breaststroke. Fellow first-year Jordan Mailly (Glastonbury, Conn.) was victorious in both the 200 free (2:06.01) and 200-yard backstroke (2:17.52), while classmate Julia Ferrara (Coto de Caza, Calif.) was the runner-up in the 500 free and placed third in the 200 free.

In the men's half of the meet, the Beavers put together a dominating performance to pick up their ninth straight win over Clark. The Green and White set the tone early by taking first and second place in the 200-yard medley relay.

Sophomore Jack Lucero (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was Babson's top individual performer with three victories in three events. He touched the wall first with a season-best time of 1:50.95 in the 200 free, and also won the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.49) and the 500 free (5:04.33). First-year Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand) was victorious in the 50 free with a time of 22.60 and also finished second in the 100 free.

Senior Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.) was first in the 100 free with a time of 48.38, while first-year Taras Polakoff (Orange County, Calif.) won the 200-yard backstroke. Sophomore Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) picked up his eighth individual event win of the season in the 1000 free, and was part of the Beavers' wins in the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay along with Posk and first-year Kevin Luu (Malden, Mass.).

Junior Kenneth Mun (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) was part of Babson's win in the 200 medley relay to go along with second and third-place results in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke, respectively. Sophomore Michael Cerny (Windsor, Conn.) was part of the victory in the 200 free relay, while first-year Connor O'Brien (Tempe, Ariz.) posted runner-up finishes in both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle.

Babson will close out its first semester schedule at WPI's three-day Gompei Invitational beginning on December 1.
