WESTWOOD, Mass.—Four members of the Babson College men's swimming & diving team were honored when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) was tabbed as the swimmer of the week and was also part of the league's relay team of the week along with seniors Ross Ojerholm (Worcester, Mass.), classmate Mitchell Posk (Boynton Beach, Fla.) and first-year Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand).
Damiecki was a part of three individual victories and three relay wins as the Beavers split dual meets against Coast Guard and Wheaton last week. He won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.73 and helped the Green and White place first in the 400-yard medley relay in Thursday's loss to the Bears. On Saturday, he broke his own school record and touched the wall in a time of 50.34 in the 100 butterfly, claimed the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:46.46, and also helped the squad to victories in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay as Babson defeated the Lyons for the first time since 2013.
The Beavers' 200-yard freestyle relay team put together a pair of strong performances, which included recording their fastest time of the year in back-to-back meets. The quartet placed second with a time of 1:27.51 against Coast Guard and then clocked in with a season-best time of 1:27.45 to finish first on Saturday at Wheaton.
The Babson men and women host a pair of meets this week at Morse Pool, beginning with Tuesday's 6 p.m. dual against Bentley.
