WELLESLEY, Mass.—Senior Tessa Amoroso (Rowley, Mass.) and junior Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) both recorded a pair of first-place finishes as the Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving teams returned to action at Wellesley College on Thursday afternoon. The Beaver men suffered a 179-89 loss to the Coast Guard Academy, while the women fell to the Bears (216-80) and the host Blue (219-73).
The Babson men are now 6-2 on the year, while the women's squad dips to 5-6.
Amoroso was victorious in both diving events for the Babson women, recording a 6-dive total of 222.95 on the 1-meter board and totaling 249.05 points on the 3-meter board. First-year Elizabeth Demoine (Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J.) also picked up a victory for the Green and White as she touched the wall first with a time of 2:37.21 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
First-year Abigail Voce (Oxford, N.Y.) came in third in the 50-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100 free, while Demoine placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke. Additionally, the duo came in third along with classmate Stella Hu (Wellesley, Mass.) and sophomore Celine Nie (Irvine, Calif.) in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Individually, Hu finished fifth in the 200 free and Nie placed fifth in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke.
On the men's side, Damiecki touched the wall first in a time of 1:56.36 in the 200-yard butterfly and followed it up with a first-place time of 51.65 in the 100 butterfly. First-year Aaron Huynh (Mission Viejo, Calif.) won the 200 free with a time of 1:44.42 and also came in third with a time of 1:58.92 in the 200 back.
First-year Ethan Yoo (Redondo Beach, Calif.) was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly finishing less than a second behind Damiecki, and came in fourth in the 50 free, while sophomore Lachlan Dibbayawan (Bangkok, Thailand) came in third in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 100 free. Damiecki, Huynh, Yoo and Dibbayawan also came in second in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400 free relay.
Sophomores Kevin Luu (Malden, Mass.) and Taras Polakoff (Orange County, Calif.) finished a second apart to place fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100 back. First-year Aiden Asuncsion-Duong (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) came in fifth in the 100 free, classmate Reid Chavez (Shelton, Conn.) finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke and sophomore Connor O'Brien (Tempe, Ariz.) placed fifth in the 500 free.
Babson returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Wheaton for a 12 p.m. dual meet.
