BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's and women's swimming & diving program was honored for its success in the classroom when it received College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team accolades on Tuesday.
The Beavers' men's and women's squads were both recognized by the CSCAA for the fifth semester in a row. In order for a team to be considered, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution for the spring term. The team GPA includes all eligible varsity student athletes.
Under the direction of third-year head coach Kristy Martin Jones, the Babson men recorded a 3.27 team GPA during the 2019 spring term. The women's team followed closely behind with a 3.20 GPA last semester. Overall, 134 men's squads and 185 women's teams earned Division III Scholar All-America team honors.
In addition to its success in the classroom, Babson is coming off a strong finish to its season in the pool. The Green and White combined to break 14 school records at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships back in February. The men (4th) and the women (7th) both registered their highest finish at the league meet since 2012.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America -is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
