WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College senior Alex Damiecki (Centerville, Mass.) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimmer of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Damiecki won all four of his individual events to help the Beavers split dual meets against Coast Guard and Wheaton over the weekend. He touched the wall first while recording season-best times in both the 100 butterfly (49.66) and 200 butterfly (1:55.72) in Friday's 181-105 loss to the Bears. On Saturday, Damiecki won the 50 butterfly in 23.02, which was 0.03 seconds off his fastest time of the season, and took first place in the 100 butterfly (50.40) as Babson defeated the Lyons, 160-110, for its third straight win in the series.
In addition to his individual success, Damiecki helped the Beavers finish second in two relays against Coast Guard and in first place in both the 200 free and 200 medley relay events at Wheaton.
Babson (7-1) returns to action on Tuesday when it welcomes Division II Bentley to Morse Pool for a men's and women's dual meet beginning at 6 p.m.
