CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Babson College men's tennis team suffered a tough 8-1 setback at NEWMAC foe MIT on Thursday. With the loss, the Beavers fell to 5-11 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Babson's lone point came in doubles play, where junior captain Brian Lafayette and junior Justin Albert teamed up for an 8-5 victory over MIT's top duo of Ken Van Tilburg and Matthew Skalak. However, the Engineers would take the remaining two doubles matches and all six singles competitions to claim the 8-1 win. All of MIT's victories were in straight sets except at number six singles, where sophomore Danny Schneider put up a strong fight before succumbing to Slalak in a superbreaker, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).
Babson closes out its regular season schedule on Saturday, when they travel to Norton to face Wheaton College at 1 p.m.
