Men's Tennis Opens Dual Match Slate with 9-0 Drubbing of Salve Regina

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Babson College men's tennis team opened its 2011-12 dual match schedule with an impressive 9-0 win over visiting Salve Regina University at the Farwell Courts on Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers are now 1-0 on the year, while the Seahawks drop to 0-3 overall.

Babson jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with a trio of convincing doubles victories. The tandem of first-years Roy Murdock (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Ramone Doyley (Kingston, Jamaica) posted an 8-2 win at number one, senior captain Danny Schneider (Littleton, Mass.) and first-year Connor DeFiore (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) added an 8-1 victory at number two, and sophomores Erik Ooi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) and Ferran Arimon (Miami, Fla.) teamed up for an 8-0 sweep at number three.

The Beavers continued to roll in singles play, receiving wins from DeFiore at one, Doyley at two, Murdock at three, Arimon at four, Schneider at five, and Ooi at six to complete the 9-0 triumph.

Babson resumes the fall portion of its schedule next Wednesday, when the Green and White head to Roger Williams for a 3:30 p.m. match with the Hawks. Salve Regina picks up its fall slate on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. road contest at Stonehill.
