NATICK, Mass. -- The Babson College men's tennis team opened its second-semester play with a 6-2 loss to unbeaten Bentley College in a non-conference match held at the Natick Racquet Club on Friday afternoon. With the win, Bentley improved to 6-0, while the Beavers fell to 2-2.
Babson senior captain Danny Schneider and junior Zach Ringer teamed up for a 9-8 (7) victory at number two doubles, but the Falcons took the remaining two matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. Zach Tuckman and Rodrigo Ribeiro took their match at first doubles, 8-6, and Jimmy Rindo and Alex Spycher added a 9-7 win at three.
Bentley put the match away with four straight-set singles victories, highlighted by a 6-2, 6-3 win by Tuckman at two and a 6-4, 6-3 win by Riberi at three. The Beavers picked up their lone singles point at number one, where first-year Ramone Doyley won when his opponent retired midway through the second set.
Babson returns to action next Friday, March 2, with a 4 p.m. home match against Bates College at the Boston Sports Club.
