CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Babson College men's tennis team closed out its spring break competition with a pair of tough losses on Wednesday, as the Beavers fell to Trinity College and host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, each by a score of 9-0. As a result, Babson will return home with a record of 3-6 on the year.
The Beavers' loss to Trinity (2-2) came despite a number of closely contested singles matches. First-year Ramone Doyley took his opponent to a third-set superbreaker before finally falling, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3), at number two, while classmate Roy Murdock put up a strong fight in a 6-3, 7-5 loss at three and senior captain Danny Schneider did the same in a 7-5, 6-3 defeat at four. Murdock then put forth Babson's best effort under the lights against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (9-4), falling by a score of 6-4, 6-2 at number three in the Green and White's second defeat of the day.
