Brandeis Too Strong For Men's Tennis

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Brandeis University men's tennis team swept doubles play and then took all but one singles match en route to an 8-1 victory over host Babson College in a non-conference contest at the Farwell Courts on Monday afternoon.

Now 3-6 on the season, Brandeis recorded a sweep of doubles play, as Ezra Bernstein (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Dave Yovanoff (Eden, N.Y.) earned an 8-6 win at one, Alex Siegel (Deerfield, Ill.) and Josh Jordan (Northboro, Mass.) secured an 8-3 victory at two, and Ben Fine (Providence, R.I.) teamed with Michael Secular (Bronx,N.Y.) for an 8-6 win in another close match at three. The Judges then completed the 8-1 win with victories in the bottom five singles spots, highlighted by a 6-1, 6-3 triumph by Yovanoff at two.

Babson's lone point came at number one singles, where first-year Ramone Doyley (Kingston, Jamaica) outdueled Jordan in a third-set superbreaker, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 1-0 (10-3). Senior captain Danny Schneider (Littleton, Mass.) also took his match with Adam Brown (West Simsbury, Conn.) to a superbreaker at number five before succumbing 6-3, 1-6, 0-1 (3-10).
