CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Babson College tennis team put up a strong fight at several positions but still came up on the losing end of a 9-0 decision to Trinity College on Wednesday. The Beavers are now 0-2 on their spring break trip to California and 4-3 overall.
The Bantams earned a sweep of doubles play, despite highly-competitive matches in the top two spots. Babson's Connor DeFiore and Ramone Doyley lost their match by a count of 8-5 at number one, while Victor Vu and Roberto Perez fell by the same score in their match at number two.
Trinity clinched the overall victory with wins at all six singles positions, although it took a pair of third-set superbreakers to finish the sweep. Perez fell to Trinity's Musyoka Mbithi, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4) at number one, and Vu was outdueled by Ned Mandel, 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-3) at number two.
The Beavers will enjoy a day off on Thursday before concluding its west coast swing with a match against Tufts University on Friday at 10 a.m. (1 p.m. ET).
