BABSON PARK, Mass.—Visiting Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute picked up a pair of doubles wins and then claimed five the of the six singles matches to collect a 7-2 victory over Babson College in non-conference men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at Farwell Courts.
RPI evened its record at 1-1 on the year while Babson fell to 0-2 in dual matches.
Sophomore Roberto Perez (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain) picked up the Beavers' lone point in singles action, cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number one. Junior Connor DeFiore (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and sophomore Saif Rahim (Hong Kong) rallied from a set down before losing in a third-set superbreaker at number four and five singles, respectively.
DeFiore and Rahim claimed Babson's only point in doubles action, picking up an 8-5 victory for their third consecutive win.
The Beavers, who reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997 last season, will open up their spring season at The College of New Jersey on February 21.
