BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College had three easy victories in doubles and then swept all six singles matches, dropping just two games, en route to a 9-0 victory over Emerson College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Farwell Courts.
With the victory, Babson is now 5-5 overall and 2-0 in league play for the first time since 2009, while Emerson drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the NEWMAC.
Sophomores Roberto Perez (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain), Isaac Thylen (Surfside, Fla.) and Victor Vu (Los Angleles, Calif.), as well as first-year Dom Wysolmerski (Rutland, Vt.) all picked up victories in both singles and doubles play to lead the Beavers. Junior Connor DeFiore (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) also had a singles win for the Green and White, which were victorious by forfeit at number three doubles and number six singles.
Perez and Vu won 8-0 at number one doubles and then triumphed 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 at first and second singles, respectively. Thylen and Wysolmerski also won 8-0 at second doubles and then posted shutout victories in their singles matches. DeFiore collected a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four singles to for the Green and White, which needed just over 90 minutes to close out the match.
Babson returns to action on Sunday when it travels to take on fourth-ranked Amherst at 12 p.m., while Emerson is at Wheaton on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
