NORTON, Mass.—Sophomores Davin Garcia (Essex Junction, Vt.) and Victor Vu (Los Angles, Calif.) won a tiebreaker at number three doubles to take a 2-1 lead and visiting Babson College won all six singles matches, including five in straight sets, on its way to an 8-1 victory over Wheaton College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon at Beard Fieldhouse.

With its third consecutive win, Babson is now 8-6 overall and 5-0 in the NEWMAC for the first time in program history. With the loss, Wheaton drops to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Juniors Connor DeFiore (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Ramone Doyley (Kingston, Jamaica) won 8-6 at number one doubles, and after the duo of sophomores Saif Rahim (Hong Kong) and Isaac Thylen (Surfside, Fla.) lost 8-2 at number two, Garcia and Vu pulled out a 9-8 (8-6) triumph to move in front by a point.

The Beavers then pulled away with a dominant effort in singles as Vu won 6-2, 6-2 at number one and Thylen, the reigning NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week, was victorious for the fifth straight match, 6-4, 6-1, at number two. Doyley cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at number three, DeFiore coasted to a 6-4, 6-2 result at number four, and Rahim won 7-5, 7-5 at fifth singles.

First-year Dom Wysolmerski (Rutland, Vt.) and Lyons' first-year Alden Zeff (Stratham, N.H.) played the match of the day at number six singles. Wysolmerski dropped the first set in a tiebreaker but rallied to force a third set before winning 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) in a super-breaker.
