Men's Tennis Earns At-Large Bid To NCAA Tournament

BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's tennis team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season after receiving an at-large bid when the 44-team field was announced on Monday afternoon. After reaching the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship for the second year in a row, the Beavers (10-10) received one of five Pool B bids reserved for teams that compete in conferences without an automatic qualifier.

The Green and White will head to Middlebury College to take on Colby Sawyer College (14-8) in the first round on Thursday, May 8. The winner will then face the host Panthers in a second round match on Friday.

Babson, led by 15th-year head coach Jim Berrigan, will be making its third appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Berrigan was selected as the NEWMAC Coach of the Year while sophomores Roberto Perez (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain), Isaac Thylen (Surfside, Fla.) and Victor Vu (Los Angeles, Calif.) all garnered all-conference accolades as the team posted double-digit victories for the second year in a row.

Match times for Thursday's first round will be announced on Tuesday and a full preview of Babson's opening-round matchup with Colby-Sawyer will be posted on Wednesday.
