LEWISTON, Maine—The Babson College men's tennis team trailed 3-0 after doubles and fell to 22nd-ranked Bates College, 8-1, in the opening match of the 2016 season on Friday afternoon at Merrill Gymnasium.
Seniors Victor Vu (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Saif Rahim (Hong Kong) were defeated 8-5 at number one doubles, while the duo of senior Roberto Perez (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain) and first-year Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) dropped an 8-2 decision at number two. Junior Dom Wysolmerski (Rutland, Vt.) and Ho Wang Alastair Ng (Hong Kong) lost 8-5 at third doubles.
Rosenbluth had the Beavers' lone highlight in singles action, earning his first dual-match victory with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 triumph at number three singles. Perez fell 6-4, 6-1 at number one, Vu was beaten 6-1, 6-1 at number two and Rahim was defeated 6-2, 7-5 at number four. Sophomores Dylan Levy (Miami, Fla.) and Connor Chin (Lexington, Mass.) both dropped 6-0, 6-1 decisions at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Babson returns to action on Monday, March 14 when it takes on Illinois Wesleyan in Orlando, Fla.
