ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.—The Babson College men's tennis team dropped just one game in doubles and then won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to a 9-0 victory over Messiah College at Sanlando Park on Friday afternoon.
With the win, Babson is now 1-1 on the year, while Messiah drops to 2-6 overall.
Seniors Victor Vu (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Saif Rahim (Hong Kong) opened the match with an 8-0 triumph at first doubles. Sophomore Ben Roque (Coral Gables, Fla.) and first-year Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) followed with an 8-0 result at number two, while senior Isaac Thylen (Surfside, Fla.) and first-year Ho Wang Alastair Ng (Hong Kong) were 8-1 winners at number three.
Thylen extended his dual-match winning streak to 17 matches with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first singles, Rosenbluth was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at number two and sophomore Dylan Levy (Miami, Fla.) eased to a 6-1, 6-0 result at number three. Fellow sophomore Connor Chin (Lexington, Mass.) won 6-1, 6-2 at number four, while junior Alden Hosmer (Hopkinton, Mass.) cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at number five. First-year Stuart Toda (Mercer Island, Wash.) picked up his first collegiate victory with a 6-1, 7-5 result at number six.
The Beavers return to action on Saturday when it takes on NAIA power Keiser University at 1 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
