Men's Tennis Suffers 8-1 Loss at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine—The Babson College men's tennis team was unable to rally from an early deficit after doubles and dropped an 8-1 decision in non-conference action at Colby College on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Babson is now 1-2, while Colby is 1-0.

First-years Alberto De Mendiola (San Jose, Costa Rica) and Dan Levitan (Winter Park, Fla.) were beaten 8-1 at number one doubles, while junior Ben Roque (Coral Gables, Fla.) and first-year Dylan Pace (Atherton, Calif.) dropped an 8-3 decision at number three. The Mules swept all three points as the duo of senior Cameron Hillier (Dallas, Texas) and junior Shaw Speer (Old Greenwich, Conn.) topped sophomores Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) and Ho Wang Alastair Ng (Hong Kong), 8-6, at number two.

De Mendiola earned the Beavers' lone point of the match with a thrilling 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (16-14) triumph over Colby senior Carl Reid (Mattapan, Mass.) at number one singles. Roque took the first set before suffering a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (11-9) loss at number four singles, while Chin forced a third set, but lost 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (16-14) to Hillier at number five.

Babson and the Mules both return to action on Saturday at the Connecticut College/Coast Guard Tournament.
