Men's Tennis Tops Carthage, 6-3

ORLANDO, Fla.—Sophomore Ho Wang Alastair Ng (Hong Kong) and first-year Alberto De Mendiola (San Jose, Costa Rica) were both victorious in singles and doubles as the Babson College men's tennis team opened its four-match trip to Florida with a 6-3 victory over Carthage College on Monday afternoon.

With the win, Babson improves to 2-4 on the year, while Carthage falls to 5-6 overall.

De Mendiola and sophomore Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) picked up the Beavers first point of the day with an 8-6 win at number one doubles. Juniors Ben Roque (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Dylan Levy (Miami, Fla.) dropped an 8-4 decision at number two, but the Green and White regained a 2-1 lead thanks to an 8-4 victory by Ng and first-year Dylan Pace (Atherton, Calif.) at number three.

De Mendiola dominated a third-set super breaker to collect a 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) win at number one, and Babson won each of the final three singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory. First-year Dan Levitan (Winter Park, Fla.) was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at number four, Roque cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 result at number five and Ng posted a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at number six.

Levy won the first set at number three before being forced to retire midway through the second, while Rosenbluth dropped his match at number two, 6-4, 6-3.

The Beavers return to action on Tuesday when they take on Grinnell at 1 p.m., while the Red Men face Luther at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
