ORLANDO, Fla.—Five players earned points in both singles and doubles as Babson College cruised to an 8-1 win over St. Lawrence University in the opening match of its spring break trip at the USTA National Campus on Monday afternoon.
With the win, Babson improves to 3-1 on the year, while St. Lawrence slips to 3-4 overall.
The first-year duo of Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Andre Libnic (Coral Gables, Fla.) were 8-4 winners at number two doubles, while senior Dylan Levy (Miami, Fla.) and sophomore Dan Levitan (Winter Park, Fla.) recorded an 8-4 victory at number three. The Green and White completed the doubles sweep at number one where junior Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) and sophomore Alberto De Mendiola (San Jose, Costa Rica) pulled out a 9-8 (9-3) triumph.
De Mendiola won 7-5, 6-1 at number one singles, Kolesnik breezed to a 6-4, 6-2 victory at number three, and Levitan posted a 6-1, 6-2 result at number three. Levy was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at number five, while Roque led 7-5, 3-0 when Saints' first-year Arman Tavana (Tehran, Iran) retired.
The lone St. Lawrence point came at number two singles where first-year Leo Romanetz (Niles, Mich.) edged Rosenbluth 6-2, 6-3.
The Beavers, who were unable to get their second match of the day going due to rain on Monday night, will return to action against Denison at the Lake Cane Tennis Center on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
