NEW LONDON, Conn.—The Babson College men's tennis team had a successful day at the Connecticut College Tournament on Saturday as it went unbeaten in five of nine singles flights and captured titles in a pair of doubles flights against the host Camels, Trinity College and Wheaton College.
Junior Alberto De Mendiola (San Jose, Calif.) won a pair of straight-set matches at two singles and paired with senior Brandon Rosenbluth (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) to go 2-0 at number one doubles. Sophomores Andre Libnic (Coral Gables, Fla.) and Ariel Ilarsan Russo (Buenos Aires, Argentina) recorded a pair of victories in the third doubles flight. Russo won his only match fifth singles, while Libnic split two three-set matches in the number one singles draw.
Junior Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.) and first-years Ron Brody (Springfield, N.J.) and Tyler Zhang (Southborough, Mass.) all went unbeaten in singles play. Kolesnik and Zhang also paired up to split a pair of doubles matches at number two. Brody also went 1-1 at fourth doubles alongside fellow rookie Rafael Premisleaner (Ojai, Calif.).
Babson returns to action on Friday when it travels to Middlebury for the ITA New England Championships.
