WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College sophomores Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Andre Libnic (Coral Gables, Fla.) swept the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards on Monday afternoon. The duo was tabbed as the league's doubles team of the week, while Libnic also collected singles player of the week recognition.
Libnic breezed to a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tommy Koszowski of Whittier at number two singles to help Babson open its spring break trip with a 6-3 victory over Whittier on Saturday. The victory came after he and Kolesnik dominated the tiebreaker against Prim Van Der Veer and Matt Yanuck to record an 8-7 (7-1) triumph at number two doubles.
Libnic is 6-3 in all matches and 4-1 at second singles this season for the Beavers, who are off to their best start since 1997. Libnic and Kolesnik have gone 3-1 this spring at second doubles.
Babson (6-0) defeated Nichols on Monday night and return to action on Tuesday when they face third-ranked Bowdoin at 2:15 p.m. in Claremont, Calif.
