WESTWOOD, Mass.—Babson College sophomore Andre Libnic (Coral Gables, Fla.) was recognized as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis Singles Co-Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Libnic won his only match of the week at number two singles defeating Alex Kennedy 6-3, 6-1 of No. 40 Bates to help the Beavers edge the Bobcats, 5-4, on Sunday. The win was the program's first over Bates in 11 tries going back to 2005 and the first against a nationally-ranked opponent in over a decade.
Libnic, who is tied for the team lead in singles victories, is 7-5 overall and 5-2 at number two on the year.
Babson (7-3) opens conference play at defending champions MIT on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
