BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's tennis program saw four players recognized for their success in the classroom when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2019 All-Academic Scholar Athletes late last week.
Junior Dylan Pace (Atherton, Calif.) was named to the team for the third consecutive season, while classmate Alberto De Mendiola (San Jose, Costa Rica), sophomore Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.) and first-year Rafael Premisleaner (Ojai, Calif.) were all honored for the first time in their respective careers. In addition to the individual awards, the Beavers also earned All-Academic team recognition from the ITA.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale), and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters. Academic team honors are awarded to any program with a 3.20 GPA or higher.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Michael Kopelman, Babson wrapped up the 2018-19 campaign at 14-5 overall after reaching its seventh consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championship match.
