BABSON PARK, Mass.—Eight different players recorded a victory and Babson College won five of six singles matches in straight sets on the way to defeating visiting Eastern Nazarene College, 9-0, in non-conference men's tennis action on Tuesday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Complex.
With the win, Babson opens the 2019-20 season at 1-0, while Eastern Nazarene falls to 0-3 on the year.
Junior Markus Nordby (Oslo, Norway) and first-year Maxwell Conlin (Alameda, Calif.) recorded an 8-1 win at number one doubles, while junior Chris Kolesnik (Staten Island, N.Y.) and first-year Jason Weisman (Claremont, Calif.) posted an 8-2 victory at number two. Junior Andre Libnic (Coral Gables, Fla.) and sophomore Tyler Zhang (Southborough, Mass.) collected the Beavers' third point of the match with an 8-2 win at number three.
Libnic breezed to a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at number two singles, Weisman was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at number three, and Kolesnik breezed to a 6-0, 6-2 result at number five. First-year Jack MacDonald (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) recorded a 6-4, 6-0 victory at number six, while first-year Sebastian Bucarion (Sarasota, Fla.) won 6-4, 6-4 at number four.
Conlin won the lone three-set match at number one singles, besting Lions' senior Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany), 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (12-10) to complete the sweep.
Babson returns to action on Friday when it travels to Franklin Pierce for a pair of matches. The Beavers will take on the host Ravens at 9:30 a.m. and meet Connecticut College at 2 p.m.
