WESTWOOD, Mass.—The Babson College men's tennis team garnered a pair of first-place votes and came in second when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) unveiled its preseason coaches' poll Thursday afternoon.
MIT, which has won 21 straight conference titles, collected five first-place votes to finish atop the poll. Coast Guard Academy came in third, while Wheaton College and Emerson College finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Babson (3-0) won a pair of Division III matches in the fall and brings back six players from a team that went 14-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play last season. Second-year head coach Michael Kopelman has scheduled 10 matches against program's ranked in the ITA preseason poll for his club, which returns four all-conference performers after reaching its seventh consecutive NEWMAC final in 2019.
The Beavers open the spring portion of their schedule at Division I Bryant on February 22 at 12 p.m.
