Esposito Breaks Decathlon Record, Earns All-New England Honors With Third-Place Finish

Esposito Earns Beavers' First Men's All-New England Honor Since 2009 at NCAA New England Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Junior Dominic Esposito (Massapequa, N.Y.) posted top-five finishes in all five events, including a victory in the 1500-meter run, on his way to totaling a school-record 6,159 points and earning All-New England honors with his third-place finish at the NCAA New England Division III Decathlon on Friday afternoon.

Esposito, who started the day in fourth place, came in third with a time of 15.98, his best ever in the decathlon, in the 110-meter hurdles to move in third overall. He followed it up by coming in fifth with a throw of 102-feet, 1.75-inches in the discus, and then tied for fifth by clearing 11-feet, 9.75 inches in the pole vault.

Esposito finished strong by coming in third with a distance of 141-feet, 4-inches to come in third in the javelin, and posted a personal-best time of 4:24.51 to win the 1500 meters by nearly six seconds to become the program's first male All-New England honoree since 2009.

Coming into the week with the 14th-best decathlon score in Division III this season, Esposito will continue his quest to qualify for the NCAA national championship at the ECAC Championships starting on May 14.
