The Babson College men's and women's track & field teams will begin the 2017 season on Saturday morning at the Bridgewater State Invitational. The Beavers are competing at BSU to begin the season for the fourth year in a row.

Senior Melissa Perlman broke her own school record in the hammer and finished third in the shot put as the Green and White opened its season with a number of strong individual performances on March 26, 2016. Kim Dvorak 'came in third in the women's long jump, while sophomore Matthew Dynan placed second in the 5,000-meter run. Cezary Bialon '16 and senior JD Greenfield finished third in the triple jump and 400-meter dash, respectively, and sophomore Gabe Ficht placed fourth in the 800-meter run.

Babson enters the 2017 season with a number of its top athletes returning after strong performances last spring. The women bring back nine veterans, led by Perlman, who holds school records in the shot put and hammer, and fellow senior Paris Ekman, who is the Babson record holder in the pole vault. Sophomore Abby Slater is also back after earning All-New England honors in the heptathlon as a rookie. On the men's side, the Beavers boast 17 returners from a team that posted its highest NEWMAC Championships point total in school history last season. Greenfield (400 meters), senior Sam LaPointe (100/200 meters), junior John Decker (800 meters) and sophomore Andrew Myers (high jump) all hold school records, and Dynan garnered all-conference honors in the 800-meter run last April.
